Corning is currently attending show week in San Jose, CA. During the three-day event, the company launches its latest product called Astra Glass, which will target high-performance tablets, notebooks and televisions.
One of Corning's star products is Gorilla Glass which appears on many smartphones around the world. The sixth iteration of Gorilla Glass will continue to be the glass of choice for most 2019 flagships.
Astra Glass is designed for devices larger than smartphones. It is precisely designed to allow the higher pixel density of high performance displays. It will create lighter, faster and more lifelike images on the future tablets, laptops and 8K TVs.
Corning positions Astra Glass as its most premium offering when it comes to larger exhibitions. In other words, if you see a tablet with Astra Glass in the future, the tablet will probably be quite expensive.
Han Yim Business Director at Corning promises that Astra Glass will provide manufacturers with a low total pitch variation, a low total thickness variation and a low bag, if it is high -end exhibitions come.
With the recent launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro and its top-of-the-line 90Hz display, high-end display technology allows the next big feature manufacturers focus on when releasing new products. Corning is likely to try out this trend with Astra.
